Rob Bates is the founder and editor of The Jewelry Wire, a jewelry industry newsletter delivering news, analysis, and commentary to jewelry professionals around the world. Widely regarded as one of the jewelry trade's most respected journalists, Rob has spent more than 35 years covering the diamond, jewelry, and precious metals industries.

Prior to launching The Jewelry Wire, Rob served for nearly three decades at JCK, ultimately serving as News Director, where he became known for his insightful reporting, thoughtful industry analysis, and ability to explain complex topics in a clear and engaging way. Throughout his career, he has reported on virtually every major issue affecting the jewelry trade, from diamond markets and retail trends to industry regulation, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
